Some folks out there on the Internets think that we all ought to carry guns. If only we'd had a gun, they say, we could take care of our own law enforcement. If someone shoots at you, you can shoot back (if you're still alive, of course). Or if someone tries to steal from you, you could shoot them (if you had a gun). And if someone near you is disturbing your silence, you can also pop a cap in their ass - end of disturbance - except for the nasty jail time, of course.

A South Philadelphia man enraged because a father and son were talking during a Christmas showing of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button took care of the situation when he pulled a .380-caliber gun and shot the father, police said. James Joseph Cialella Jr., 29, of the 1900 block of Hollywood Street is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and weapons violations.
