Young Love

A Syracuse couple has been married for 75 years. A grandson had the billboard above put up in the downtown area. But the best part of the article in the Syracuse newspaper concerning the anniversary, was the couple's descriptions of why their marriage had worked...

For Connie, togetherness creates a deep definition of love. "We do everything I can think of together. You get to know each other as the years go by," Connie said. "As days and years go by, I feel closer than I did when I first got married. He's a part of me and I pray I'm as much a part of him."

Sam defines love differently. "You just kept your mouth shut," he joked.

My wife and I have only been married 40 years, but our success is based on my own mastery of two little words - "Yes, dear."

A Long Time

I usually avoid personal posts here, but I guess I'm changing. Last week I posted about playing golf and cleaning found golf balls. Today I make another personal post.

My wife and I celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary today. Nothing much exciting - we took our Toyota Solara convertible and drove the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail, stopping off in Ithaca and at a couple of wineries. We brought home about 8 bottles of wine that we liked.

It was quite cool - never got above 73 degrees F where we were - so we had our jackets on when we had the top down. Still, a nice peaceful day.

We stopped and had dinner at Pier 57 on Rte 57 in Liverpool (NY) - an excellent seafood bisque and a great pot roast (my wife) - but the tuna casserole I had was quite bland.

Joke - Anniversary

Some elderly Arizona ranchers are discussing everything from cattle, horses, and weather to how things used to be in the "good old days". When the conversation finally touches upon their spouses, one gentleman turns to the fellow on his right: "Say, Roy, aren't you and the missus celebrating your 50th wedding anniversary soon?"

"Yup," says Roy.

"Well, are you going to do anything special to celebrate?"

Roy gives this a bit of thought. "Well," he says slowly, "for our 25th anniversary, I took Bea to Tuscon. Maybe for our 50th, I will go back down there and get her."
