I had a friend many years ago, since deceased, who bred Great Danes and sold the pups. She had quite a few funny stories of customers who would buy the pups, turn them into lap dogs, and soon live to regret it. That's a lot of dog to hold in your lap.
Many of the dogs would also become attached to just one member of a household and they would try to keep that person away from his/her spouse or children. In some cases it became a serious issue and they would want to return the dogs, but my friend had a no return policy after 30 days. Not sure how those issues ever got resolved.
Fair warning.
