Police are getting out of hand
We know it's not ALL police officers, but there are far too many resorting to violence against non-violent protesters these days. This girl posed him no obvious threat. Remember, Mr. Cop - that could be YOUR daughter someday.

Question For The Cops

I drive on the New York State Thruway from time to time (not every day, but maybe once a week) and the speed limit out there is 65 MPH. I've learned over the years that as long as you stay 75 MPH and under, the police won't stop you for speeding. Get much over that and you might find yourself with a hefty fine and points on your license. BTW, the road is patrolled almost exclusively by the New York State Police, a group for whom, on the whole, I have a lot of respect. (For those of you outside of New York State, be advised that New York has a large number of state troopers and our roads are more heavily patrolled than in a lot of states.)
Now on to my story and my point. Yesterday I was driving on the Thruway just east of Syracuse and I'm doing my usual 74 MPH (according to my speedometer), in the left lane passing another vehicle, when I look in my rear view mirror and here comes a State Trooper moving up on me at a pretty quick rate. He does not have any lights flashing and no siren wailing, but even still, he's a cop and I'm not, so I pulled back into the right lane as soon as it was safe, and he roared on past me. I'm no expert, but I'd say he was doing in excess of 80 MPH.
Now my question is this - if it's not safe for ME to drive that fast, and if I can be ticketed for driving at that speed, why can HE do it? Does he somehow think that there's less traffic for him? Or that he's a better driver? Or that he needs to get home from work sooner than I do?
I understand it in case of emergency (code 3?), but for just a drive down the road? The law should be the same for everyone. When there's a class of people who set themselves above everyone else, it leads to problems (look at the bankers and the situation they've caused in our world).
Can someone explain?

Funny - Without Trying To Be
You might like to check out this site - there's some funny stuff here. Click on the link in the title below to read the rest.
Cops Talk Funny
And it's hurting their credibility in court
What happens to police officers when they take the stand? I've been working with cops on the stand for over twenty years - first as a prosecutor and now as a national trainer on how to be an effective witness. From recruits in academies to senior officers and command staff, you talk funny when you take the stand. Is it in the water at the academies; is there a secret society where you're taught this special language?

Lawyer: Would you observe these photographs and tell me if these items were seen by you that day?
Officer: Yes, sir, all items depicted in the five photos were later observed by this officer while I was observing the said property which was observed in the trunk of the vehicle.
[Disorderly Conduct - Verbatim Excerpts from Actual Court Cases, Rodney R. Jones, Charles M. Sevilla, Gerald F. Uelmen (1978)].
Or this: After conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation, I contacted the driver and immediately detected the odor of intoxicants.
[Plain English for Cops, Nicholas Meier, R.J. Adams (1999).]
Do you use a baton when you're "conducting" a "traffic stop?" Is a "vehicle" a car? How did you "contact" the driver - with sticky shelf paper? What "detection" device did you use to smell something and, if you're smelling something, isn't it obvious it's an odor?

The Police Dog Who Just Doesn't Get It
This is pretty funny, but someone needs to spend a little more time training that dog.

Assaulting An Officer?
This is a funny story from Fox News - which also has a picture of the guy.
Jose Cruz was pulled over Monday night on Route 60
in South Charleston for driving with his headlights off. He was subsequently arrested after failing a series of sobriety tests, according to WSAZ TV in Charleston.
During fingerprinting, Cruz then allegedly moved closer to one of the officers and passed gas, the station reported. In the complaint, the investigating officer wrote that police noticed a "very strong" odor.
The alleged stunt led Cruz to be charged with another offense — battery on an officer — in addition to DUI and obstruction, WSAZ reported.

Joke - DUI TEst
En route to his next performance, a juggler was stopped by a cop. "What are these matches and lighter fluid doing in your car?" the officer asked.
"I juggle flaming torches," the juggler said.
"Oh yeah?" the cop said. "Let me see.”
The man stepped out of the car and began to juggle the blazing torches. A couple driving by slowed down to watch. "Wow," the driver said to his wife. "I'm glad I quit drinking. Look at the test they're giving now.”

Another of the in-car videos of police chasing down a bad guy. This time the bad guy is a killer and the chase is violent.

Joke Time
Two men were driving through West Virginia when they got pulled over by a State Trooper.
The cop walked up and tapped on the window with his nightstick. The driver rolled down the window and WHACK, the cop smacked him in the head with his nightstick.
"What the hell was that for?" the driver asked.
"You're in West Virginia, son," the trooper answered. "When we pull you over in West Virginia, you better have your license ready by the time we get to your car."
"I'm sorry, officer," the driver said, "I'm not from around here."
The trooper runs a check on the guy's license--he's clean and he gives the guy his license back.
The trooper then walks around to the passenger side and taps on the window. The passenger rolls down the window and "WHACK", the trooper smacks him on the head with the nightstick.
"What'd you do that for?" the passenger demands.
"Just making your wish come true," replied the trooper.
"Making WHAT wish come true?" the passenger asked.
"Because I know your type." the trooper says. "Two miles down the road you're gonna turn to your buddy and say,"I wish that asshole would've tried that shit with me".
